Alan is originally from New
Albany,
IN, a small city near Louisville, KY. He grew up in a school
system
that is nationally recognized for their music and theatrical
productions. He began playing trumpet at the age of 9 and
eventually
became a first chair musician in the renowned Floyd County Youth
Symphony, playing concerts, tours, and contests throughout the United
States and other countries. During this time, Alan also
became
involved
in performances of stage plays and musicals, both as an
actor and as a musician in pit orchestras.
As a contrast to his
artistic
side, he also became very interested in computers and
engineering at a young age. In junior high school, he was
already
proficient at complex computer programming, which would eventually
prove to complement his musical skills. He went on to complete a degree
in engineering from one of the nation's premier engineering schools,
Purdue University.
After college, Alan
held
various engineering jobs before eventually building his own successful
environmental and real estate consulting firm.
He always retained
a strong love for and knowledge of music and theatrical arts, which led
to one of his favorite pastimes: movies (especially horror movies).
Over the years, Alan spent a great deal of time refining his
musical
tastes to include everything from classical to industrial music and
studying the effects of music on the emotional aspects of movies.
Eventually,
Mr. Grosheider
developed a home studio of synthesizers and computer sequencers and
began composing his own music. After he volunteered as a
zombie
extra on the set of Dead
Moon Rising (an Anubis
Digital Studios project), he
happened to
meet Janice and Mark Poole (Anubis Digital Studios producers), and the
music for Dead Moon Rising was born, along with Alan's
soundtrack career.
Since that time, he has
composed for numerous movies, shorts, movie trailers, DJs, full-length
songs and many other projects.
